The two sisters will now represent Erries at the final in Tulbagh in the Western Cape, where they will compete against some of the country’s top young debaters. The national final is scheduled to take place on 23 and 24 September.

The Con Spirito Debate Competition is being presented for the sixth year and consists of three stages, with first rounds held in May and June, semi-finals during July and August, and the final in September. Debate teams consist of two members and compete in a structured format designed to test argumentation, quick thinking, teamwork and the ability to respond effectively to opposing viewpoints.

Abigail and Milan’s progression to the final marks an impressive achievement for the two Erries, who will now have the opportunity to test their debating skills on the national stage.
