A total of 570 suspects were arrested across Mpumalanga during Operation Shanela II and other high-density multidisciplinary operations conducted between 10 and 13 September.
According to SAPS, 235 suspects were arrested in Nkangala District, 214 in Ehlanzeni and 121 in Gert Sibande.
The arrests included suspects linked to drug-related offences, assault, murder, illegal possession of firearms, driving under the influence, illicit mining and alleged contraventions of the Immigration Act.
In Gert Sibande District, the 121 arrests included 28 suspects for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, 21 for alleged Immigration Act contraventions, 15 for drug-related offences and four on murder charges.
Police said several wanted suspects linked to serious and violent crimes were also arrested during the operations.
Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise commended the law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders involved, saying the operations formed part of continued efforts to address criminal activity across the province.
The suspects are expected to appear in various Magistrates' Courts across Mpumalanga.
