Loud music, alleged public drinking and littering have raised concerns over a recently opened nightclub in Murray Street, Ermelo.
Reports of excessive noise, individuals allegedly consuming alcohol in the nightclub's parking area and bottles being discarded in the street have brought attention to public nuisance concerns in the area.
Ward 7 Councillor JJ Scholtz recently visited Murray Street to assess the situation following what he described as numerous complaints from members of the public regarding noise levels.
According to Scholtz, enquiries with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and municipal offices indicated that the establishment's licensing was in order. However, concerns remain about the noise levels and their potential impact on nearby flats and residential properties.
Scholtz indicated that the matter would be investigated further and referred to the Office of the Premier and the relevant liquor authorities for consideration.
It remains unclear whether any formal enforcement action has been initiated, and no findings of wrongdoing have been established against the establishment.
