Twelve-year-old Divan Venter has always had a passion for rugby, a love nurtured by his family and honed through dedicated training with his father. His exceptional talent and determination have distinguished him as a standout young athlete in his community.
Divan's dedication recently paid off when he was selected to join the U/13 Bokkies Tour in Namibia, following a rigorous selection process during the Bokkies Tour in Kroonstad. Competing against top young players from across the region, Divan's hard work and perseverance shone through, earning him a coveted spot on the team. His achievement has brought immense pride to his family and the Ermelo community.
A student at JJ Primary School, Divan now faces the challenge of raising R25,000 to cover the costs associated with the tour.
In Namibia, Divan can compete against strong opponents and learn valuable lessons in teamwork and resilience. The experience promises to deepen his love for rugby, broaden his cultural horizons, and forge new friendships.
The following dates must secure the financial support required to make this dream a reality:
- 5 July 2024: First R4,000 installment
- 29 July 2024: Additional R10,000
- 30 August 2024: Final R8,850
Donations can be made through the following link: BackaBuddy Campaign to support Divan's journey to Namibia and help him achieve his rugby dreams.
The tour is expected to significantly boost Divan's confidence and provide him with a clearer vision of his future in rugby. His journey inspires other young athletes in Ermelo and demonstrates that with passion, hard work, and community support, dreams are within reach.
