At the Karate South Africa Annual Awards on 21 June 2025, Ermelo Karate Academy athletes Chibuzo Okpugo, Chinedu Okpugo and Lesedi Twala were presented with their official “Karate South Africa Colours” for their outstanding 2024/2025 competition season.
As some of Mpumalanga’s top karate athletes, they have consistently led the province in performance and results, with a string of standout achievements and milestones throughout the season.
All three proudly represented South Africa at the Commonwealth Karate Championships in Durban, where Chibuzo placed in the top five of the Cadet Boys Kumite division and both Chinedu and Lesedi delivered impressive performances on the international stage.
This prestigious recognition celebrates their dedication, skill and sportsmanship over a season defined by high-level international competition.
