Young cricketers from Laerskool JJ van der Merwe shine in MPU Premier League

Two young cricket stars from Laerskool JJ van der Merwe, Ruwan Nel and Lehan Toerien, have made their mark in the inaugural Mpumalanga Premier League (MPL). Ruwan Nel was selected to represent the under-11 Pilgrim’s Miners, while Lehan Toerien played for the under-12 Wolves. Both tournaments were hosted at Uplands in White River, showcasing the talents of budding cricketers.

Lehan Toerien participated in the tournament from 15 June to 18 June, leading his team, the Wolves, to a commendable second-place finish. His outstanding performance included a score of 95 runs off 58 balls, not out, proving his prowess on the field.

Following closely, Ruwan Nel’s tournament ran from 19 June to 22 June. He was pivotal in leading the PilPilgrim’sners to victory, with the team clinching first place. RuwRuwan’sghest score was an impressive 42 runs from 26 balls, not out.
