Eskom announced Stage 3 loadshedding effective from 14:00 on Friday, 7 March 2025, continuing until Monday, 10 March 2025, at 05:00. This follows the loss of 2700MW in generating capacity over the past 14 hours, including issues at Koeberg Unit 2 and two Kusile Units.
To replenish emergency reserves, Eskom is using weekend loadshedding to address critical shortfalls. Extra engineering resources are deployed, and Eskom expects to restore 6200MW by Monday’s evening peak.
