Phoenix Tournament Brings Competitive Spirit and Community Energy to Ermelo

The Phoenix Tournament, held this past Saturday in Ermelo, delivered a full day of competitive lawn bowls and strong community spirit, drawing teams from across the region. The event got off to a lively start even before the main competition began, with players enjoying a relaxed atmosphere that set the tone for the day.

Pre-tournament activities helped build excitement, with Alta claiming victory in the “knockout” game and Nadia finishing as runner-up, adding to the festive mood around the greens. A highlight before the main matches was the Last Man Standing competition, where two members of the Schneider family faced off in the final. Throughout the day, the Ermelo Rolbalklub was praised for creating a welcoming environment and strong team spirit.

On the competitive front, the Phoenix Tournament delivered high-quality bowls and closely contested matches. Great Ones from Secunda emerged as overall winners, followed by No Bias from Delmas/Heidelberg in second place, while Prime Diesel from Ermelo secured third position.

The results capped off a successful tournament that combined sporting excellence with a strong sense of camaraderie, reinforcing the Phoenix Tournament’s place as a highlight on Ermelo’s local sporting calendar.
