Alkema Street is finally receiving much-needed attention, with Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM) currently busy carrying out repairs to the road.
The development follows ongoing reports and follow-ups by the Democratic Alliance (DA), who say they have actively raised concerns about the condition of the street for the past year. The road had long been regarded as an eyesore by residents, with its deteriorating state drawing repeated complaints.
The DA has welcomed the fact that work is now underway, stating that the road has been an issue for years. While expressing appreciation that MLM has responded, the party emphasised that maintaining roads is part of the municipality’s responsibility to residents. With repair teams currently on site, there is hope that the upgrades will restore the road to a safer and more presentable condition for all who use it.
