Hundreds of runners from across the Gert Sibande District Municipality gathered in Ermelo in the early hours of Saturday morning, 16 May, to take part in the GSDM Marathon event despite the freezing weather

The event featured the 42.2km marathon, 21.1km half marathon, 10km race and 4.9km fun run, drawing participants from different towns and clubs throughout the region

Walter Mngomezulu - Executive Mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality officially started the event by sounding the race alarm, marking the beginning of a day focused on fitness, endurance and community spirit.
Event organisers later described the marathon as a truly successful day as runners, while also congratulating all participants who took part in the various race categories throughout the day.
