The Mpumalanga Provincial Government has expanded its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) fleet with the official handover of 20 ambulances, five primary response vehicles, and 70 service delivery vehicles at Mbombela Stadium on Thursday 02 July 2026.

The vehicles were handed over by Premier Mandla Ndlovu, alongside Health MEC Sasekani Manzini and City of Mbombela Executive Mayor Sibongile Makushe-Mazibuko.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ndlovu said the new fleet forms part of the provincial government's ongoing investment in strengthening emergency medical services and improving healthcare delivery across Mpumalanga.
He commended emergency medical personnel and healthcare workers for their commitment to bringing essential healthcare services closer to communities, saying their dedication continues to make a meaningful difference in the province.

The Premier said Mpumalanga currently has 185 ambulances in operation and remains on track to achieve its target of 204 ambulances.
According to Ndlovu, the additional ambulances and response vehicles are expected to improve emergency response times, increase the province's capacity to respond to life-threatening incidents, and enhance access to quality healthcare services.
The new fleet is expected to be deployed across the province to strengthen emergency response capabilities and support the delivery of healthcare services to all residents of Mpumalanga.
