New quarterly crime statistics to be released

South Africa’s crime statistics for the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year are set to be released today, 28 August.

The figures, covering crimes reported between April and June 2026, will be presented by Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia during a briefing scheduled for 12:00 in Pretoria.

The release is expected to provide updated figures for murder, attempted murder, rape and other sexual offences, assault, robbery, kidnapping, vehicle-related crime, property crime and other serious offences. Provincial and police station-level trends are also expected to be included.
