Ermelo Athletics Club member Siyamthanda Khumalo has been crowned a national champion after winning gold at the South Africa Primary Schools Athletics Championships at Green Point Stadium in the Western Cape.
Competing in the Boys U11 long jump, Khumalo produced a winning leap of 5.09m, finishing ahead of Gauteng's Pieter van Rensburg, who recorded 4.93m, and Bokang Lesito of the Free State with 4.92m.
Representing Mpumalanga and the Gert Sibande District, the young Ermelo athlete's performance secured him the top spot in the country and marked an outstanding achievement on the national stage.
