Traffic volumes are expected to rise on Mpumalanga’s major routes from Wednesday, 23 September, as families travel for the school holidays and Heritage Day long weekend.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Jackie Macie urged motorists to obey road rules and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before setting off. He warned that officers would act against reckless and negligent drivers.
Macie also appealed to public transport operators to avoid overloading and urged drivers to rest after every two hours or 200 kilometres. Motorists should allow extra time for roadworks and adjust their driving in poor weather.
