A 31-year-old man has been arrested following the death of a 27-year-old woman at Thusi Village in Ermelo.
According to Mpumalanga SAPS, police responded to a complaint on Friday, 2 October, regarding a woman who had allegedly been assaulted by a male friend.
When officers arrived, they found the woman unconscious on the ground. Paramedics later declared her dead at the scene.

The suspect, who was reportedly still in the vicinity, was arrested and was expected to appear in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 5 October, on a murder charge.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the possible motive.
Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise condemned the incident and reiterated that gender-based violence and femicide remain a policing priority.
“We are deeply disturbed by this senseless killing of a young woman, allegedly at the hands of someone she knew,” Modise said.
SAPS urged communities to report incidents of domestic violence before they escalate.
