A farm in Volksrust, linked to an alleged drug manufacturing operation, has attracted an offer of more than R4 million as legal proceedings surrounding the property continue.

According to a statement issued by the Hawks on Friday, 16 October, police discovered a suspected crystal methamphetamine laboratory at Oudehoutkloof Farm on 19 September 2025.

Five Mexican nationals and one South African were arrested on drug-related charges.

Investigations revealed that two of the farm's three buildings were allegedly used for drug manufacturing, while the third served as a residence.

Authorities also identified 119 sheep, vehicles, tractors, trailers and various equipment on the property.

Following a court preservation order, movable assets were sold at public auctions for R241,249.10.

The farm was subsequently placed on the market, with an offer of R4,001,000 accepted.

However, the sale has yet to be finalised after the registered owner filed a legal notice, resulting in further court proceedings.
